What is a roof lining?

The roof lining, also called a headliner, is the fabric-covered panel on the inside of your car's roof. It hides bare metal and wiring, gives the cabin a finished look and helps cut noise and heat. Most linings are made of a rigid moulded board covered with a thin layer of foam and a fabric face. The foam is what bonds the fabric to the board, and it is the part that fails first.

Signs your roof lining needs attention

The fabric has started to droop in the middle or near the rear window.
Bubbles or waves appear in the fabric.
The edges are peeling away around the sun visors, pillars or sunroof.
You see crumbs of yellow or brown foam on your seats.
The fabric is stained or damp, which can point to a leak.

How our repair works

We visit your home or workplace. We bring the materials and tools to you, so you do not need to take the day off or leave the car at a workshop.
We remove and replace the lining. The trim and fittings around the lining are removed, the old fabric and failed foam are stripped from the board, and the board is prepared and re-covered or replaced as needed. Trim and fittings are then refitted.
Your roof is ready. The new lining is smooth and secure, and your car is ready to drive.

Why a proper repair beats a quick fix

It is tempting to spray glue or push pins into a sagging lining. These can work for a short time if the foam is still firm, but repair guides note that when the foam has broken down, glue has nothing solid to grip and the fabric usually comes down again.
